Welcome to the Double Happiness Studio Market Harborough (MH) website and to the home of the Not-so-silent Travellers. The Year of the Fire Horse began on 17th February 2026 (Chinese New Year) and comes to an end on 5th February 2027. We wish you peace, prosperity and beautiful paintings throughout this Horse year.
We aim to inform, educate and entertain you with regard to Chinese Brush Painting (CBP) in general and our CBP work in particular. We hope to pass on our enthusiasm about this lesser known art medium (in the Western world) in a lively and interesting way.
The sense of an animating spirit beneath superficial appearance releases Chinese painters from the obligation to attempt a faux photo-realism (and misleads some Western observers into regarding their art as crude or unskilled). Accurate representation means nothing if the artist has not imbued his forms with qi.
