Welcome to the Double Happiness Studio Market Harborough (MH) website and to the home of the Not-so-silent Travellers. The Year of the Wood Snake began on January 29th, 2025 (Chinese New Year) and comes to an end on February 16th, 2026. We wish you peace and prosperity throughout this Snake year.
We aim to inform, educate and entertain you with regard to Chinese Brush Painting (CBP) in general and our CBP work in particular. We hope to pass on our enthusiasm about this lesser known art medium (in the Western world) in a lively and interesting way.
The sense of an animating spirit beneath superficial appearance releases Chinese painters from the obligation to attempt a faux photo-realism (and misleads some Western observers into regarding their art as crude or unskilled). Accurate representation means nothing if the artist has not imbued his forms with qi.
