Chinese Brush Painting (CBP) tutor & artist
After a teaching career covering more than 35 years, I am now concentrating on tutoring Chinese Brush Painting. I enjoy painting animals and still life in particular and am a great admirer of the work of Qi Baishi and Fu Hua. I have been tutoring at Knuston Hall residential college since 2018.
I first became interested in Chinese Brush Painting about 20 years ago when I had the good fortune to become one of Pauline Cherrett’s students at Knuston Hall. I then studied with her for the next 18 years and she asked me to take over the course at Knuston when she retired. I feel very lucky to be able to pass on my love of CBP to others.

I have exhibited and sold my work locally, and have even curated two exhibitions in my time, for the groups to which I belonged. My work has even sold nationally on occasions. My paintings have been selected for several years to appear in the calendar of the Chinese Brush Painters Society, on whose committee I had the honour of serving.
I now enjoy being a visiting tutor to groups around the country and often work in tandem with Paul as we have differing but complementary styles and skills.
